Uralsk city
Uralsk is an administrative center of West-Kazakhstan oblast and is located in northwest of Republic of Kazakhstan. The area borders on five areas of Russian Federation: Samara, Orenburg, Saratov, Volgograd, Astrakhan and two areas of Kazakhstan Aktyubinsk and Atyrau oblasts. The general territory of city with suburbs makes more than 700 sq.km., the population – mare then 220 thousand representing almost 100 different nationalities. Uralsk one of the most ancient coast of the river Ural, in place of mouthing of the river Chagan into it.
Some centuries ago on place of nowadays Uralsk there were first settlements and ruins of ancient nomads: sarmat-alan and oguz-pecheneg, skiff, goth, avar tribes. From that period comes the ancient name of the settlement – Yaick city. The present name the city carries since 1775.
Geographically joining Europe with Asia to one continent Eurasia, Ural has assembled to cultures, historically being connected for many centuries. Many outstanding representatives of art and painting started their creative work here: Khadisha Bukeeva, Roza Dzhamanova, Garifolla Kurmangaliev, Azerbaizhan Mambetov, Saken Gumarov and the classic of Tatar literature Gabdulla Toukai.
Uralsk is the only city of Kazakhstan, being visited by A.Pushkin, L.Tolstoy, M.Sholokhov – writers whose names are known throughout of the world, and by famous opera singer Feodor Shaliyapin. Priurakie is the motherland of great Kazakh composers: Kurmangazy, Dauletkerey, Moukhit, Dina and poets and writers as well: Tair Zharokov, Zhuban Moldagaliev, Sagyngaky Seitov, Kadyr Myrzaliev, Khamza Esenzhanov.
Priceless inheritance for future generation are dozens of interesting architecture and historical monuments of Uralsk.
Uralsk music college is named after Kazakh national composer Kurmangazy and works actively more that 60 years. The string department of it is proud of college violin professors: the honored teacher Alexey Bolotin, whose purple was Zhakhar Bron, known today as famous professor of music and of the honored artist of Kazakhstan Buldachenko (former college director). Bolshoi Theatre tenor soloist Nourlan Bekmukhambetov and St.Peterburg Conservatoire Doctor of Arts Shoulpyakov have graduated from this college.The building of West-Kazakhstan Philharmonic society has been repaired and fully re-established due to XIX century style. During 37 concert seasons there were more than 32000 concerts in it. The world known pianist Svyatoslav Rikhter, soloist of Bolshoi Theatre Valentina Levko and Leonid Smetannikov, People artists of the USSR singers Ermek Serkebayev, Bibigul Tulegenova, Alibek Dnishev, honored art worker of Republic of Kazakhstan violin-soloist Marat Bisengaliev etc. Have performed here.
The are real master pieces of architecture in Uralsk: recently build Kazakh Drama theatre named after Khadisha Boukeyeva and restored Russian Drama theatre named after A.Ostrovsky.
